Located at 870 Castleton Ave, Staten Island, NY 10310, Problem baker operates as a bakery serving Staten Island in New York. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as coffee shop, so it may cover more than the name suggests.
Because this group is broad, judging a listing on freshness, turnover and how consistent recent reviews are tends to work better than judging by decor or price range alone. Most kitchens in Staten Island will adjust a dish for common dietary needs like gluten-free or vegetarian if you ask when ordering. Hours vary widely: diners and fast-food chains often stay open late or around the clock, while bakeries and cafes tend to open early and close mid-afternoon. Catering and food delivery businesses in New York usually require advance notice, from a day for a small order up to a week or more for a large event, so it is worth contacting them early.
Hours are published for 2 days a week. Typical hours are 10 AMβ9 PM. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Problem baker at (929) 909-3779; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, problembaker.com.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.9 out of 5 from 232 reviews, which is a strong result for a bakery in Staten Island and suggests consistent service.
Staten Island is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Staten Island follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

πͺβ Problem Baker absolutely lives up to its motto: Cookies, Coffee, Culture. The cookies were incredible, but the hospitality was what really won me over. Huge shoutout to Bilal, Bri, and Bayaan for making me feel so welcome! π Bayaan went above and beyond to make sure my latte was made exactly the way I wanted it. β As a dad of a daughter with Celiac disease, I really appreciated Bilalβs honesty and care. While they donβt have a dedicated gluten-free kitchen, he explained they can prepare two cookie flavors gluten-free with advance notice and takes every precaution to avoid cross-contamination. That level of transparency meant a lot. β€οΈ I took home a six-cookie box with the Sβmores, Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Chip Oatmeal, 7 Layer, Oreo Cookies & Cream, and Brownie cookiesβand they were a huge hit with the kids! πͺ I will definitely be back for one of their cookie ice cream sandwiches next. π¦ Great cookies bring you in, but outstanding people are what keep you coming back. Highly recommend!

From the drinks to the cookies, everything was amazing!!! The service is always a 10/10 with such a warm, family like vibe. Theyβre incredibly accommodating whether itβs fixing your drink just the way you like it or warming up your cookies to perfection. The team works so well together to keep the shop in tip top shape, and it truly makes you want to keep coming back. I absolutely love this shop and the owners!ππͺβοΈπ΅

This place is truly a hidden gem! I canβt believe it took me so long to come by. If you enjoy real matcha and not the DD crap then this place is a must try. I only walked in with the expectation of cookies but turned out that their matcha strawberry drink is the best Iβve tried. Beats the spots in the city for sure! 10/10

This cute little shop located in the north shore of Staten Island, is definitely a hit. My mom wanted to try it and honestly it didn't disappoint. They had about 20 cookies to choose from my mom got the Dubai Chocolate cookie which was the perfect crispy edge and soft and delicious in the middle. The coffee was strong and tasty and the service was great and attentive. Just make sure you're ready to spend $20 for one cookie and 2 coffees although it is high in price, if stays consistent it's worthy. I wish them luck and will be back try the other flavors.see you there π
